Cenée, a visual poem about non-binary gender

«Cenée» is a visible poem whose tale is impressed by a Greek myth and its summary sort has been motivated by the visual novel «The Cage», revealed by Martin Vaughn-James in 2002. “I imagine our identity is anything we all develop just about every day. It evolves, it changes, it adapts. It is a design motivated by our beliefs, our ordeals, the environment that surrounds us, and our very own uniqueness… The authentic fantasy of Caeneus tells the story of a lady that, following becoming sexually abused by Poseidon, she asks him to be turned into a man, « so that she can never ever be vulnerable all over again.”

“This film begins with that event but the narrative evolves into an inner lookup about self-identification and the conjunction of masculinity and femininity in the exact same unique. It supports the idea of non-binary gender in a refined way.

« Cenée » goes versus the fact that even presently we are meant to develop a cage, a prison for our strategies, for our self-expression to restrict us, to make us believe that that every little thing is black or white, proper or incorrect, male or woman. At the time we end thinking in a binary way, only then, we will be able to take ourselves and everybody else.

Greek mythology was my most important inspiration simply because it is the culture we are likely to appear at when we’re looking for solutions to outdated humanity issues. I was amazed to see that historic greeks presently realized the notion of non-binary gender and in some way or a further they integrated into their culture and passed it on to the following generations. These days, much more than at any time, we should really master from them to take every person as they want to be”

“I am a Venezuelan artist centered in Paris and I made this project with a bunch of good friends and artists from France and other international locations. With a tiny spending plan, I resolved to surround myself with inspired and engaged men and women that have been prepared to give a voice to the non-binary local community. I labored with fashion designers from Paris, jewellery crafters from the South of France and even antique sellers from La Ciotat.”
