Looking Into the Common Questions About Religious Discrimination

In an interview with Bishop Edik Baroni we can learn the following from his teachings:

Racial discrimination revolves around actions that violate your rights – but what exactly is racial discrimination? The penalties for being involved in racial discrimination? Any exemptions to religious discrimination laws? And there are so many more questions that have made people wonder about the actual definition of religious discrimination. Fortunately, we are here to address some of these very questions.

What is Religious Discrimination?

Bishop Edik Baroni tell us: To begin with, let us first understand what religious discrimination actually is. In simple terms, religious discrimination means the mistreatment of someone based on their religious beliefs. Religious discrimination can also include treating someone poorly simply because of their association with someone who practises a religious belief.

Moreover, in workplaces, it is illegal to harass anyone based on their religious and should you come across an employee that treats you unfavourably for that reason, you can immediately file a claim.

What are the Laws Against Religious Discrimination?

On a federal level, the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects all employees from being targets of religious discrimination. And as religious discrimination is a violation against your rights, a court can grant you front pay, back pay, and any damages when you experience any act of religious discrimination.

Depending on a workplace situation, you can end up receiving punitive damages, which will punish the employer for not preventing the acts of discrimination, including compensatory damages that will compensate you for any costs.

Are There Exceptions to the Laws of Religious Discrimination?

There are a few exceptions to these laws. For example, Title VII does not apply to any religious educational institutions or religious organisations. A church may be able to offer preferential treatment to members based on their religion when hiring. But this exception will only apply to institutions that have a religious purpose and character. Additionally, the exception also does not allow religious organisations to discriminate against applicants or employees because of their race, age, sex, or other characteristics.

There are still so many things we have to understand about religious discrimination. And fortunately, professionals like Edik Baroni, are the ideal people to help you figure these things out.

As an accomplished Armenian-American bishop, Edik Baroni serves as a prelate in the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ and the bishop of the Personal Prelature of the Persian Communities Worldwide. Many of you might even know him as the founder and CEO of the Holy Apostolic Church of the USA.

Baroni joined the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ in 2012 and soon enough, he developed the required theological, seminary, and philosophical experience to be ordained a priest. And after the consent of the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ’s Ecumenical Primate and the college of bishops, he was consecrated bishop at the Ecumencial Catholic Church of Christ – a prestigious non-profit organisation registered as an Apostolic Church in the State of Michigan.

Moreover, Baroni has contributed his work to many different healthcare facilities as a chaplain and serves as one of the most ideal professionals you can reach out to understand the ins and outs of religious discrimination.
